    Painting in Quarantine

It's no secret that I've been struggling to connect to making art in the last couple years. Sometimes it feels like a lack of time (got plenty of that now) or a lack of emotional connection. I've also been struggling with the idea of making more physical objects in a world full of material things. During quarantine, though, I've realized that I have all these surfaces just sitting around my house, so I may as well use them.

"Mon Petit Chou Chou Fleur" 11"x14" acrylic on canvas $150

I took a photo of a bouquet of flowers at work sometime last year with the plan to paint them. Now I've had the time to complete them. If interested in purchasing this or commissioning a painting during this time, please get in touch.

While social distancing/sheltering in place/quarantining, however you refer to it yourself, it can be easy to get caught up in negative thought patterns. But truthfully, none of us really know how things will turn out when these closures do lift. What we can control is the way that we care for ourselves and those in our household. The first week of quarantine, I felt sort of listless and a pressure to be productive but then overwhelmed by all of it. I chose to take some time to adjust, let myself feel things out. What even is my natural sleep schedule when I don't have to be somewhere in the morning?! What can keep me feeling healthy day to day, but doesn't feel overwhelming? For me, that's picking one set thing a day that has to be done at a specific time (most days, that's yoga).

Like so many others, I'm out of my regular work schedule and routine right now. The yoga studio I work for is closed publicly and our classes have moved online. Luckily, I am still teaching twice a week (Sunday and Tuesday mornings) with them, which means I'll have a small income stream. If you'd like to support me and the studio, you can register for classes through Swan River Yoga. Sign up before class and they'll send you the zoom link 5 min before class start time. If you don't have the means, I'm offering a pay what you can basic/alignment focused class on Fridays at 10:30am via Zoom, just let me know that you'd like to receive an email invite for that. I've also posted some short videos and a 60 min yoga class to my yoga page: Le Réveil Reiki & Yoga.

Please get in touch through the box on the left.
